Beach, St. Lawrence Gap

It's a rainy Sunday morning in Barbados so the morning jog is postponed. I need to get out of the hotel so I grabbed small travel umbrella and walked towards St. Lawrence Gap, about a mile away from my hotel.  There are several restaurants, bars and hotels in this area and this place gets very busy at night.  On this rainy morning,  I'm the only one walking around - which is really great.

North Point, Barbados

As the name suggests,  it is the northernmost point on the island.  It was a Saturday and there was nothing to much to do.  We drove to North Point and took pictures.

Dinner: Dolphin or Flying Fish?

I wanted seafood for dinner so I walked over to a small restaurant close to the hotel.  I wanted something light and was planning on getting just a sandwich instead of the usual full dinner.  On the menu was the "Grilled Catch of the Day Sandwich".  The options: dolphin or flying fish.

Somehow I can't imagine having dolphin meat on a sandwich.  As regards flying fish,  I've seen them as they rode the waves on many trips I've taken aboard a ship. Same price for either sandwich - $17.95 Barbados dollars, including the 17.5% VAT.  That's about 9 USD.

Sunday Stroll

There was no electricity at the hotel from 8:30 am till 4 pm today because the power company was fixing the power grid in this area. It's not possible to stay in the hotel anyway so I decided to take a walk from the South Beach area to Bridgetown.  I took my GPS so I could track how far I walked.  It took awhile for the GPS to pick up the satellite signal so I'm guessing I probably walked about a mile further than the 2.7-miles that was recorded by the GPS.
Here are some pictures that I took along the way.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Just like being back in Southeast Asia. Hot and humid, then rain clouds appear.

Not obvious from the picture but it rained and I stood at this corner for about 20 minutes

These homes are certainly not what you typically see over here

Barbados

Barbados is a small island / country in the Caribbean.  I had to connect through Miami and take a 3-hr flight to get to Bridgeport where the airport is located.
